Eugene Mirman Launches ‘Here Comes the Whimsy’ Special on YouTube One Month After Car Accident
A month after a serious car accident in New Hampshire, Eugene Mirman is back in the spotlight, ready to entertain fans once again. The voice actor, known for his role in Bob’s Burgers, announced the launch of his first stand-up special in a decade, titled Here Comes the Whimsy. The special debuted on Tuesday on YouTube and is available for streaming on the Pretty Good Friends channel.
Two weeks prior, Mirman appeared in a promotional video alongside his Bob’s Burgers co-star Kristen Schaal, where he expressed interest in attending her new show, The Legend of Crystal Shell. Schaal humorously responded, “Well, now that you’re alive, you can,” adding that Mirman will open for the show on May 12 at Dynasty Typewriter.
This news comes on the heels of Mirman’s hospitalization due to severe injuries sustained in a car crash that resulted in his vehicle catching fire. Following the accident, he updated fans via social media, stating he was “on the mend” and “doing relatively alright, all things considered.” In his Instagram message, he expressed gratitude for the support he received, thanking those who rescued him and the medical staff who cared for him.
Mirman has been a fixture in animated entertainment since 2011, voicing the musically inclined Gene Belcher on Bob’s Burgers. His background also includes a significant role in Flight of the Conchords from 2007 to 2009, along with appearances in shows such as Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Apple & Onion, Delocated, and Archer, where he plays Cheryl Tunt’s brother, Cecil.
