Mariah Carey to Perform at 2026 Olympic Opening Ceremony
Mariah Carey is set to headline the opening ceremony for the 2026 Winter Olympics, an announcement made on Monday, December 15. The news comes via a public service announcement featuring the iconic singer, known as the “Queen of Christmas.”
In an Instagram video shared by both Carey and the official Olympics account, she appears in a striking red gown adorned with a diamond necklace. “Ciao!” she greets viewers enthusiastically. “Get ready for Milano Cortina 2026.”
Carey continues, “See you at the Stadio San Siro on the 6th of February for the Olympic opening ceremony,” showcasing her Italian skills with a cheerful “Ci vediamo a Milano.”
The Olympics’ Instagram account further emphasized the significance of Carey’s performance, stating it will “define an unforgettable Opening Ceremony,” and included the question, “Are you ready?”
The 2026 Winter Olympics will be held from February 6 to 22 in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy. The games will feature events like figure skating, skiing, and snowboarding, occurring just two years after the memorable 2024 Summer Games, which featured performances from stars like Lady Gaga and Celine Dion, as well as a dramatic showcase by Gojira.
Carey’s announcement coincides with her peak season; her perennial hit, “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” has now spent 19 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Should it remain at the top for just one more week, it will set a new record for the longest No. 1 run in Billboard chart history.
