Eric Kripke Promises ‘Vought Rising’ Won’t Make Fans Feel Sorry for Stormfront: “She’s A Nazi, and We’re Not Holding Back”
The upcoming prequel series of The Boys will see the return of Aya Cash’s character Stormfront, but creator Eric Kripke has clarified that her motivations will not be altered for the new narrative.
In a recent statement, Kripke emphasized that he does not expect the audience to feel sympathy for Stormfront in the 1950s-set Vought Rising, despite the character’s complicated relationship with Soldier Boy, portrayed by Jensen Ackles. “In no way will I ever ask the audience to sympathize with Stormfront. She’s a Nazi, and she sucks,” he noted. He elaborated that the storyline will explore Soldier Boy’s feelings for Clara Vought, also known as Liberty, and how their histories intertwine. “You’ll understand a little bit more of what Soldier Boy and Bombsight’s relationship is, and why they resent each other,” he explained.
Kripke also reassured viewers about Vought Rising‘s accessibility for new audiences. “We always try to hit the right balance, where it provides a little bit of context and some good Easter eggs. But by no means do you have to watch The Boys to enjoy Vought Rising. In fact, we just had some audience testing with some people who had never seen The Boys, and they liked Vought Rising on its own,” he said, highlighting the series’ aim to stand alone.

Jensen Ackles shared insights on portraying a younger Soldier Boy in Vought Rising. “It was exciting, and it was a little bit more challenging because I felt like I’d gotten to know modern day Soldier Boy pretty well and had him kind of dialed in,” he said. Ackles explained that the prequel reveals the character’s formative experiences, shaping his worldview and identity. “It was a little bit different. It was a little trickier to get some footing in that character,” he admitted.
As the season approaches its finale, The Boys will conclude with its last episode airing on May 19, followed by a Prime Video release the following day.
