EPiC: Elvis Presley In Concert Highlights a Calm Indie Weekend, Strong Opening for Gianfranco Rosi’s Pompei: Below The Clouds at the Specialty Box Office
Neon’s documentary EpiC: Elvis Presley In Concert has secured the ninth position at the domestic box office, generating an estimated $1.5 million in its third week across 1,965 screens. The film, directed by Baz Luhrmann, has reached a cumulative total of $10.9 million. As the Oscar date approaches, competition among indie films remains subdued.
The action thriller Protector, starring Milla Jovovich, debuted with a weekend total of $744,000 from over 1,000 screens. The film, directed by Adrian Grunberg, comes from Magenta Light Studios.
The 2026 Oscar Nominated Shorts, distributed by Roadside Attractions, is projected to earn $545,000 across 325 screens, bringing its cumulative total to $2.98 million. This three-part program of Animated, Live Action, and Documentary shorts will conclude its run following the Oscars next Sunday.
The horror film Dolly, released by IFC Films Entertainment, opened to an estimated $480,000 over its first weekend across 810 screens.

Gianfranco Rosi’s critically acclaimed documentary Pompei: Below The Clouds, distributed by Mubi, had a successful theatrical debut, earning $18,800 at two New York City theaters. Sold-out shows at the Walter Reade Theatre and IFC Center contributed to its strong performance, buoyed by positive critical reception (97% from Rotten Tomatoes based on 27 reviews). The film, which portrays modern life in Naples amidst the looming presence of Vesuvius, is set for further rollout in Los Angeles and Chicago next weekend, followed by additional markets throughout March.
Holdovers: In addition to EPiC, Neon continues to screen four other films, each on over 100 screens. Sirat crossed the $1 million mark with a $353,000 weekend, while The Secret Agent recorded $94,000 for a cumulative total of $4.1 million. Sentimental Value earned $23,000, pushing its total to $5.1 million, and Nirvana The Band The Show The Movie grossed $228,000, reaching a cumulative total of $3.6 million after four weeks.
A24’s award contender, Marty Supreme, which has been in theaters since Christmas, grossed $240,000 over the weekend, bringing its total to $95.6 million. Alexander Skarsgard’s film Pillion generated $349,000 across 369 screens this weekend, resulting in a cumulative gross of $3.2 million.
From GKids, the historical drama Kokuho, which achieved record-breaking success in Japan, crossed the $1 million threshold on 41 screens, earning $45,700 in its fifth week.
