Enjoying a Perfect Sunday in L.A. with Tips from Ty Dolla Sign
Ty Dolla Sign finds tranquility in the skies, often returning to Los Angeles after traveling for performances. Recently, during an interview, the singer, songwriter, and producer faced a few interruptions as he prepared to fly to Las Vegas for a club performance later that night. “I’m about to be at the airport in like 17 minutes,” he noted, his connection fluctuating.
Born Tyrone Griffin Jr., Ty Dolla Sign is celebrated for his distinctive voice and captivating hooks. In the fall, he released his fourth studio album, “Tycoon,” featuring artists such as YG, ASAP Rocky, Chlöe, Lil Wayne, and Leon Thomas. As 2026 began, he unveiled a mash-up version of the album on Hotcue.fm.
As awards season approaches, Ty Dolla Sign stands out with a seventh Grammy nomination for melodic rap performance, thanks to his collaboration with JID. Additionally, EZMNY, the record label he co-founded in 2021 with A&R executive Shawn Barron, garnered 10 nominations across its roster, including six for Leon Thomas and four for Bizzy Crook.
Just before boarding his flight, Ty Dolla Sign shared his vision of an ideal Sunday in Los Angeles: starting the day with a visit to his favorite smoothie bar, engaging in music creation at his home studio, and enjoying an intimate Italian dinner.
This understanding of a perfect day opens with a morning spent on a plane. “A perfect Sunday for me would start with landing on a plane early in L.A. Since I’ll already be up, I can handle my calls super early, which is convenient,” he said.
Following his arrival, he would head home to work out with his personal trainer, who arrives around 11 a.m. or noon. “I’ve been working with my trainer since before Ty Dolla Sign,” he shared, highlighting a 15 to 20-year relationship. “I’m the type of guy to where it’s like, yeah, having a six-pack is cool and all that, but eating great food is also one of my loves.”
After the workout, he envisioned stopping by Body Energy Club for a smoothie, mentioning favorites like the Green Goodness, Blueberry Crumble, and Turmeric Mango, each made with natural ingredients.
Music creation follows, as he would retreat to his compound, possibly while watching a football game. Dinner plans would depend on the time after his studio session. For Italian cuisine, he prefers Giorgio Baldi in the Palisades for its famed ravioli with corn or the Nice Guy for a later meal. He appreciates restaurant privacy, avoiding establishments that overcharge him due to his celebrity status.
At Giorgio Baldi, he enjoys a variety of dishes, often sampling multiple items. “Everywhere I go, I like to order steak, fish, chicken, and veggies just like how I cook at home,” he explained. “If it wasn’t then, my favorite food is a burger.” He humorously noted his preference for chicken Parmesan without cheese, finding camaraderie in this quirk with fellow artist YG.
With a full day behind him, Ty Dolla Sign concludes by calling it a night.
