Empire of the Sun, Spacey Jane, and Holy Holy: Exclusive Releases for Record Store Day Australia
Trending on Billboard
Empire of the Sun is set to feature prominently in Record Store Day Australia 2026.
The electronic duo spearheads the first wave of Australian releases for the annual celebration of independent music, which takes place on April 18.
Emperor Steele (Luke Steele) and Lord Littlemore (Nick Littlemore) will release an expanded edition of Walking On A Dream, their acclaimed debut album from 2008, through Universal. The original album received four ARIA Awards and reached the top 10 in Australia, featuring hit singles like “We Are the People” and the title track, which garnered attention on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at No. 65 after its use in a Honda Civic campaign nearly eight years later.

Record collectors can also look forward to special releases from Spacey Jane, Ruel, Bluey, and others.
Among the standout announcements, the album Sweet Bitter Sweet by Holy Holy will make its vinyl debut, marking the indie band’s final release before going on indefinite hiatus.
Originally released digitally in 2025, the vinyl edition features two halves: five newly written tracks and five reimagined versions of favorites from the band’s 14-year career.
Holy Holy described the exclusive release as “an intimate parting gift for fans.”
Launched in 2008, Record Store Day Australia coincides with similar events in the United States, United Kingdom, Japan, and Europe, occurring on the third Saturday of April each year.
The initiative aims to elevate the contemporary music community, supporting Australian independent labels, artists, and a network of over 200 record stores to broaden their audience and grow the event annually.
Australian artists like Ninajirachi, You Am I, Pond, Ocean Alley, Underground Lovers, Montaigne, Confidence Man, and The Wiggles contribute exclusive releases for the event.
On Record Store Day, more than 400 exclusive releases, both local and international, will be available exclusively at independent record shops.
Additional Australian release announcements for 2026 are expected soon.
