Emma Stone and Chris Pine Set to Star in Romantic Comedy ‘The Catch,’ Coming May 2027
Details about the plot of an upcoming film remain under wraps, though it has been characterized as a two-hander romantic comedy. The screenplay was originally penned by Patrick Kang and Michael Levin, with the latest draft completed by Jen Statsky of *Hacks* fame and Travis Helwig. Emma Stone, after considering several projects for the fall, shifted her focus to this one following a promising draft of *The Catch*. Once Chris Pine joined the cast, the film moved forward for production later this year.
Production will be led by Shawn Levy and Dan Levine through 21 Laps, alongside Michael H. Weber. Stone, along with director Dave McCary and Ali Herting, will produce under the Fruit Tree banner. Universal secured a first-look deal with Fruit Tree after acquiring the film, which is set to be released in 2024. Robin Fisichella is on board as executive producer.
