Emily Bader and Tom Blyth Share Their Vacation Pet Peeves, Highlighting One Airport Habit They Find Annoying
Emily Bader and Tom Blyth Share Travel Hot Takes Ahead of Netflix Romcom
Emily Bader and Tom Blyth, stars of the upcoming Netflix romantic comedy People We Meet on Vacation, have opened up about their strong travel pet peeves in a recent interview. The film, based on Emily Henry’s bestselling novel, premieres on January 9.
Bader and Blyth portray Poppy and Alex, longtime friends who habitually vacation together. A pivotal trip causes a rift between them, but they reconnect years later for one last getaway. Their story, a slow-burn friends-to-lovers romance, has gained popularity on platforms like BookTok.
Blyth, 30, shares a contrasting view from his character Alex, particularly regarding music preferences: “I love saxophones. I love a bit of jazz, so I can’t relate to that at all.” He highlights his character’s disdain for sandals and flip-flops, stating, “You can wear flip-flops if you want.”

Bader, 29, also expresses her take on travel planning. “I don’t like to over-plan a trip. I think it ends up just being more stressful,” she said, advocating for a more relaxed approach to travel. “I just like to go with the flow.”
Blyth further emphasizes his travel frustrations, particularly about airport behavior. He describes a common annoyance with travelers who neglect to return trays at security checkpoints. “It should be a criminal offense,” he proclaims. “You’re holding up everyone, and then someone else has to get all the trays for you.”
Directed by Brett Haley, People We Meet on Vacation features a cast including Sarah Catherine Hook, Lukas Gage, Lucien Laviscount, and Jameela Jamil. This adaptation marks the first of Henry’s novels to hit the screen, with several others—such as Beach Read and Book Lovers—also in line for adaptations.

Blyth expressed eagerness to participate in a romcom after previously taking on more serious roles, including a part in the recent Hunger Games prequel, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. “I was just eager to do something light and fun, and a bit sexy,” he explained, highlighting Henry’s appeal.
Bader, making her comedic debut, shared her enthusiasm for the role, stating, “It was really fun to just fall on my face a lot with this character.” She noted that allowing herself to make “silly decisions” led to a pleasurable filming experience.
People We Meet on Vacation will be available on Netflix starting January 9.
