A fresh family drama, Margo’s Got Money Troubles, based on the bestselling novel by Rufi Thorpe, takes center stage on Apple TV. The series follows Margo, a recent college dropout and aspiring writer, as she navigates the challenges of raising a newborn while facing a mountain of bills and limited financial options.
The show features an impressive cast, including Thaddea Graham, Elle Fanning, Michelle Pfeiffer, and executive producer Eva Anderson. The series promises to blend humor and heart, providing a unique perspective on the struggles of young adulthood.
In a discussion about the show’s themes, star Elle Fanning remarked, “There’s such a spectrum here of what [OnlyFans] is. There are these very niche — it’s not just one thing. I think people hear it and you think, ‘Oh, it must just be this, like, hardcore [thing].’ But then, looking at the pages, and talking about the women that are on there, it’s their imagination, they’re creating characters.”
Fanning emphasized that while the show highlights one particular angle of Margo’s experience, it underscores her journey of empowerment. “For Margo, it empowers her. She’s a writer, and she thought that that dream was dead, and then finding the site and being able to create her content, this character opens up a whole new world that she didn’t think was going to be possible, with the situation she was in,” she added.
This series promises to explore complex themes surrounding creativity, identity, and the everyday realities faced by young women in today’s society.
