Ella Rubin Cast in Netflix’s ‘The God Of The Woods’ Series
Ella Rubin Joins Cast of Netflix’s The God of the Woods
Ella Rubin, known for her roles in The Girl from Plainville and Until Dawn, will star in Netflix’s upcoming series The God of the Woods, alongside Maya Hawke and Kerry Condon. This adaptation is based on Liz Moore’s bestselling novel.
The series, developed by writers and executive producers Liz Hannah and Liz Moore, focuses on the Van Laar family in the Adirondacks. It delves into their hidden secrets, class tensions, and the mysterious disappearance of 13-year-old Barbara Van Laar, which may be connected to a previous family tragedy. As the story unfolds, the family’s wealth and influence are challenged, exposing the detrimental impacts of privilege and power abuse.
Rubin will portray Louise Donnadieu, a working-class counselor at Camp Emerson whose life spirals after Barbara goes missing. Condon will take on the role of Barbara’s mother, Alice Van Laar, while Hawke plays Judy Luptack, the investigator on the case.
Neal H. Moritz and Pavun Shetty serve as executive producers for Original Film, with Sony Pictures Television producing the series.
This project marks a reunion for Rubin and Hannah, as Rubin previously appeared in the Hulu limited series The Girl from Plainville, co-created and executive produced by Hannah. Rubin’s ongoing relationship with Netflix includes her roles in the film Fear Street: Prom Queen and the series The Chair. She is currently filming The Boys From Brazil, an adaptation of the Ira Levin novel, alongside Jeremy Strong.
Rubin will also star in Megan Park’s upcoming Prime Video series, Sterling Point. Her television credits include a recurring role in HBO Max’s Gossip Girl, while her filmography features Until Dawn, The Idea of You with Anne Hathaway, and the Oscar-winning Anora. Rubin is represented by Kipperman Management, CAA, and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern.
