Elizabeth Olsen Praises Miles Teller’s Playful Energy on ‘Eternity’ Set
At the New York City premiere of A24’s film Eternity, actress Elizabeth Olsen opened up about her experience working alongside Miles Teller. Olsen, who plays the lead character Joan, described Teller’s contributions as instrumental in bringing a refreshing energy to the romantic comedy.
In the film, Joan faces a poignant dilemma: whether to choose her first love, Luke, played by Callum Turner, or her longtime husband, Larry, portrayed by Teller. Despite the weight of her character’s decisions, filming was, according to Olsen, a surprisingly easygoing experience, largely thanks to Teller.
Olsen noted that their off-screen chemistry, which developed despite limited pre-filming interaction due to Teller’s busy schedule, was aided by high-quality writing and forethought from their cast. "I think luckily with scripts that work and with actors that come prepared, you’re able to just play and be present," she explained. "The script did most of the work."
The actress emphasized the importance of the characters’ lengthy marriage—65 years—as a facilitator for their on-screen banter. “You just kind of trust the storytelling,” she added, highlighting how the relationship’s background created the illusion of chemistry.

Teller’s playful demeanor on set contributed to a light-hearted atmosphere, according to Olsen. “He was always trying to surprise me, and I think that also keeps it fresh and exciting,” she remarked.
Olsen credited castmates Da’Vine Joy Randolph and John Early, who also brought unique chemistry, with enhancing the filming experience. “I always just enjoyed what other people were improvising,” she shared, recalling moments of laughter that emerged during filming, particularly during improvised sequences.
"It was really just a joyful, silly experience getting to make this," Olsen continued, noting the balance between lightheartedness and the film’s more serious themes.

Olsen’s enthusiasm for the camaraderie extended to the broader cast, with actress Olga Merediz relating similar sentiments about her experience during filming. Merediz expressed an instant connection with Olsen, noting that their chemistry resembled that of sisters right away.
She also spoke fondly of Teller, noting, “Miles was just so sweet and nice,” despite their characters having a strained relationship in the film.
Randolph, who also enjoyed working with her contemporaries in Eternity, mentioned that the strong camaraderie among the cast was pivotal. “It was just natural. Just clicked,” she said, appreciating the positive energy that everyone contributed to the project.
As Eternity makes its way into theaters, audiences can expect not only a captivating storyline but also the genuine interactions that developed behind the scenes.
