Dylan O’Brien, Lewis Pullman, and Kaia Gerber Join Forces in New Erotic Thriller ‘Bulls’ at Cannes Market
Dylan O’Brien, known for his work on Send Help, is set to star in James Morosini’s upcoming erotic thriller, Bulls. He will be joined by Lewis Pullman, recognized for his role in Thunderbolts, and Kaia Gerber, who recently appeared in Bottoms.
The project is being brought to life by Yvette Zhuang and Zach Glueck, co-CEOs of Manifest Pictures, ahead of the Cannes market. Morosini, who previously won acclaim at SXSW for I Love My Dad, has both written and directed Bulls. Financing and production are handled by QC Entertainment, known for Get Out, while Roth/Kirschenbaum Films, producers of Sony Pictures’ successful film Anyone But You, are also on board.
Manifest Pictures will manage the international rights, with CAA Media Finance, WME Independent, and QC Entertainment handling domestic sales. Filming is scheduled to begin before year’s end.
In Bulls, O’Brien plays Danny, a man who has spent three decades apologizing for his existence. As his relationship deteriorates, he escapes on a trip to a hedonistic island resort, aiming to return as a man his girlfriend can admire. However, his journey takes a perilous turn when he becomes involved with Ava, a married woman portrayed by Gerber, leading him to confront her husband, Marco, played by Pullman.
“Danny is drawn deeper into Ava’s dangerous and intoxicating world of sex, power, and psychological games,” the narrative notes. “He quickly realizes that getting caught by Marco is just the beginning.”
Morosini, who has recently been asked to write and executive produce an adaptation of his horror script Mommy’s Home for Lionsgate, also had Universal acquire his elevated comedy spec, Inner Child, which is being adapted for the Lego universe. He recently starred in It’s What’s Inside, which premiered at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival and was sold to Netflix for $17 million.
“The opportunity to work with James has been long-awaited,” stated QC Entertainment partners Sean McKittrick, Raymond Mansfield, and Edward H. Hamm Jr. “He brings a bold and fearless sensibility to character and tension. Bulls immediately stood out as a project with both commercial potential and a unique creative voice. We’re eager to support James’ vision.”
Zack Roth of Roth/Kirschenbaum commented on the film’s potential, saying, “James Morosini has crafted a provocative and unpredictable thriller that demands your attention. It’s elevated yet crowd-pleasing, and with this stellar cast, we know it will captivate audiences and spark conversation.”
Morosini expressed his enthusiasm for the project: “I wrote Bulls because it’s the type of film I would cancel my plans to see in cinemas. It’s mischievous, twisty, and most of all, it’s sexy.” Zhuang and Glueck remarked, “James has created a transgressive erotic thriller that speaks directly to today’s theatrical audience, one that has embraced provocative hits like Wuthering Heights and The White Lotus. With his sharp voice and this incredible next-gen cast, Bulls will leave audiences gasping and talking long after the credits roll.”
O’Brien is represented by WME, Principal Entertainment LA, and Lichter, Grossman; Gerber is represented by CAA, Entertainment 360, and Sloane, Offer; Pullman is represented by CAA and Anonymous Content. Morosini is represented by CAA, Range Media Partners, and Goodman, Genow.
