Ducks’ Winning Streak Comes to an End Against the Edmonton Oilers
EDMONTON, Canada — Connor McDavid showcased his scoring prowess once again, netting a goal and providing two assists as the Edmonton Oilers defeated the Anaheim Ducks 4-2 on Saturday. This victory allowed the Oilers to gain ground in the Pacific Division standings, moving within three points of the division-leading Ducks.
Zach Hyman contributed significantly with a goal and an assist, while Jack Roslovic and Matt Savoie also found the back of the net for Edmonton. The win marks the Oilers’ third consecutive victory, an impressive turnaround considering they had struggled with a 1-9-2 record in their previous twelve attempts to win more than two straight games.
The Oilers’ success can be attributed in part to their ability to score first; they have now won 27 out of 37 games this season when opening the scoring. However, the team continues to navigate challenges, remaining without star forward Leon Draisaitl, who is sidelined for the remainder of the regular season due to a lower body injury.
For the Ducks, Beckett Sennecke and Cutter Gauthier each scored, halting their four-game winning streak. In net, Connor Ingram made 29 saves to secure the win for Edmonton, while Ducks goalie Lukas Dostal recorded 30 saves.
Evan Bouchard continued his impressive form, picking up two assists and extending his points streak against the Ducks to 11 games. Bouchard leads all NHL defensemen with 86 points this season and is on track to become the 13th defenseman in league history to reach the 90-point milestone.
Looking ahead, the Ducks will return home to face the Toronto Maple Leafs on Monday.
