Ducks Player Leo Carlsson Out for 3-5 Weeks with Thigh Injury, May Miss Olympics
Ducks’ Leo Carlsson to Miss Extended Time Following Surgery
The Anaheim Ducks will be without their leading scorer, Leo Carlsson, for three to five weeks after he underwent surgery on Friday to address a lesion in his left thigh. This injury raises doubts about Carlsson’s participation in the upcoming Milan Cortina Olympics.
At just 21 years old, Carlsson had posted a team-high 44 points this season, comprising 18 goals and 26 assists. Before the operation, he missed the Ducks’ recent 3-1 victory over the Dallas Stars on Tuesday.
Carlsson is among four Ducks players selected for the Winter Games, where Sweden is set to begin competition on February 11, with knockout rounds commencing on February 17.
His injury, classified as a Morel-Lavallée lesion, involves a rare condition where skin and fat separate from the fascia, creating a fluid-filled space. Carlsson, who was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2023 NHL Draft, scored 20 goals and accumulated 45 points last season.
The Ducks entered Friday’s matchup having struggled, winning only one of their last ten games, which has seen them slip to sixth in the Pacific Division.
