Driver Taken into Custody After Traveling Against Traffic on Freeways 60 and 10
A man allegedly driving a stolen white box truck led authorities on a reckless pursuit through eastern Los Angeles County early Monday morning, culminating in a foot chase on a dead-end street in Baldwin Park.
The incident began when Whittier police noticed the truck being operated erratically. California Highway Patrol Officer Elizabeth Kravig confirmed that the CHP joined the chase around 1:15 a.m.
“He was all over the county on the east side,” Kravig noted. The suspect drove the box truck against traffic on both the Pomona and San Bernardino freeways before ultimately exiting onto a dead-end street in the 3100 block of Frazier Street in Baldwin Park.
After coming to a halt, the man exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot; however, he was quickly apprehended by law enforcement. Video footage from the scene showed the suspect appearing unsteady as officers helped him to his feet after placing him in handcuffs.
