Don Lemon Weighs Presidential Bid, Believes He Can Lead Better Than Donald Trump
As the 2028 presidential election approaches, former CNN anchor Don Lemon has hinted at the possibility of a political career. He recently expressed his belief that he could “definitely run this country better” than former President Donald Trump, though he remains uncertain about aligning with the Democratic Party.
In a discussion on the podcast Pod Save America, Lemon remarked, “I’ve never said that I was going to grab anybody by the p*ssy. I’ve never said that a woman had blood coming out of her wherever. But also, I’m not a white man. And the rules are different for me,” highlighting perceived disparities in the treatment of candidates based on race and gender.
Lemon further elaborated, “Do I ever think about it? Yes. Could it happen? Yeah, it could happen if the right opportunity presented itself.” He emphasized that while he could see himself as President, the structure of the political system poses challenges. “As an independent, there would be a hard time for me to run for anything. Because the way the system is set up I’d have to choose a side,” he stated. “I probably would have to become a Democrat. Am I at that point now? No.”
This commentary follows Lemon’s plea of not guilty regarding his indictment related to an anti-ICE protest outside a church in Minneapolis. After entering his plea, he told reporters, “The events before my arrest, and what’s happened since, show that people are finally realizing what this administration is all about. The process is the punishment with them. … I will not be intimidated. I will not back down. I will fight these baseless charges, and I will not be silenced.”
The circumstances surrounding Lemon’s arrest have sparked protests advocating for free speech, as he, along with eight others, faces charges related to conspiracy against the right to religious freedom at a place of worship, among other accusations.
