American Idol’s Hollywood Week in Music City Outshines The Voice in Ratings
American Idol Shifts Hollywood Week to Nashville, Achieves Record Ratings
In a strategic move, American Idol relocated its Hollywood Week from Los Angeles to Nashville, Tennessee. The change has yielded impressive results, with the talent competition recording its best ratings since the season’s premiere. Notably, viewership rose more than 25% compared to last season’s comparable episode.
The episode also surpassed ratings for NBC’s The Voice, a result likely to please executives at ABC. Judges Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie, and Carrie Underwood commended contestants Madison Moon and Braden Rumfelt, as 13 talented individuals advanced to the next round. However, competition remains fierce as 127 contestants will vie for a place in the Top 30 during the upcoming second part of Hollywood Week.
According to Nielsen, the episode attracted 5.52 million viewers and delivered a 0.45 rating among adults aged 18-49 in Live+Same Day ratings. This marks the show’s largest audience since the season premiere, representing a 16% increase in total viewers from the previous week.
ABC noted that American Idol outperformed the season debut of The Voice, which garnered 3.84 million viewers during a 9 PM to 11 PM time slot, compared to Idol‘s 8 PM to 10 PM slot. The network highlighted that this episode achieved the largest victory margin in total viewers over The Voice in its nine-season history on ABC.
