The rapper, known for her song “DENIAL IS A RIVER,” released “Girl, Get Up” on December 30, featuring SZA and directly challenging the narrative surrounding her career.
“All that industry plant s— whack/ I see it on the blogs, I see you in the chats/ You suck every rap n—a d— from the back/ But what’s the agenda when the it girl Black,” Doechii, 27, raps on the track.

She emphasizes the effort she’s put into her career while highlighting her accomplishments.
“Y’all can’t fathom that I work this hard/ And y’all can’t fathom that I earned this chart,” Doechii asserts.
She appears to acknowledge her support from Kendrick Lamar and mentions plans to discuss misogyny in hip-hop on her upcoming album.
“They callin’ me the intellect amongst the p—- rap/ I still be poppin’ p—-, them my sisters, so I can’t agree with that/ These n—– misogynistic, I’ll address it on the album,” she states.

The music video for “Girl, Get Up” showcases Doechii dancing in shadows on a yacht and overlooking a stadium from a rooftop railing.
Both artists are signed to Top Dawg Entertainment. Doechii and SZA, 36, collaborated on the “Persuasive” remix last year.

Following her Grammy win for Best Rap Album in 2025 for her mixtape Alligator Bites Never Heal, Doechii has received five nominations for the 2026 Grammy Awards.
Nominations include Best Music Video, Best Rap Song, Best Rap Performance, Song of the Year, and Record of the Year for “Anxiety.”
In August, Doechii reflected on her achievements, noting a standout moment even beyond her Grammy win.
“I think that Billboard Women in Music night was really impactful and important to me, mainly because I got to highlight so many of the women that helped me make Alligator Bites Never Heal what it became,” she stated.
Doechii continued, “I realized how many women are actually employed on my team and how much I appreciate them. That was a big night for us to celebrate what the hell we just did. It was crazy, even crazier than the Grammy to me.”
