Divide/Conquer Partners with Blumhouse-Atomic Monster to Kick Off Survival Horror Film ‘Doomtown’
Divide/Conquer Signs First-Look Deal with Blumhouse-Atomic Monster
Production company Divide/Conquer, led by Adam Hendricks and Greg Gilreath, has entered into a first-look deal with Blumhouse-Atomic Monster. This partnership will kick off with the development of Doomtown, a high-concept survival horror film crafted by screenwriter Chris Thomas Devlin.
The collaboration highlights a longstanding relationship between Divide/Conquer and Blumhouse, established over a decade ago when Jason Blum, Founder and CEO of Blumhouse, served as a mentor to Hendricks and Gilreath during the Sundance Creative Producing Lab. This deal signifies a mutual commitment to nurturing a new generation of genre filmmakers, encompassing a variety of feature developments that will range from innovative, cost-effective projects to selected productions for Blumhouse-Atomic Monster.
“This deal strengthens our ability to develop fresh voices and build long-term relationships with filmmakers earlier in their careers," said Blum. "As we continue expanding across subgenres, this partnership gives us a focused vertical designed to champion bold ideas—work that has always been core to both of our companies.”
Details regarding the plot of Doomtown remain confidential, but sources indicate that James Wan has expressed significant interest in directing the film, although such claims have been denied by those close to him. Nonetheless, Wan will serve as a producer alongside Hendricks and Gilreath. Michael Clear, Ingrid Bisu, and Judson Scott will take on executive producer roles, with Alayna Glasthal overseeing production for Atomic Monster. Devlin’s previous work includes the horror spec Cobweb, released by Lionsgate, as well as the 2022 reboot of Texas Chainsaw Massacre, which debuted at number one on Netflix.
In addition to Doomtown, Divide/Conquer and Blumhouse-Atomic Monster are also collaborating on Anything But Ghosts, the next project from Curry Barker. Barker, who is set to star alongside Cooper Tomlinson, has penned a script that is generating anticipation, particularly following his earlier work on Obsession.
The two companies have previously worked together on several notable titles, including M3GAN, Freaky, and Black Phone 2. Hendricks and Gilreath reflected on their ten-year relationship with Blum, stating, “When Sundance introduced us to Jason in 2014 as our mentor, we could never have imagined the long and fruitful partnership that would follow. Entering into this new chapter feels like a natural evolution of that early relationship. We’re thrilled to deepen our collaboration with Blumhouse and to work more closely with the incredible team at Atomic Monster as we expand our combined slate.”
Atomic Monster President Michael Clear remarked, “Adam and Greg are terrific collaborators, and we’re lucky to be in the trenches with them.” He also praised Devlin’s work, noting, “Chris Thomas Devlin delivered a script that’s smart, eerie, and full of ideas, and Doomtown is a strong start to this new chapter with Divide/Conquer."
Since its inception in 2013, Divide/Conquer has produced over 30 feature films, including Heart Eyes and Vengeance. The company is represented by Roger Green and Nick Hoagland at WME, along with David Fox of Myman Greenspan Fox.
Blumhouse and Wan’s Atomic Monster, responsible for nearly $9 billion in global box office earnings, merged in 2024, having produced nearly 250 films and series. Notable successes include modern revivals of the Halloween and The Exorcist franchises, as well as the acclaimed Conjuring series. Earlier this year, they secured rights to another significant franchise, Saw.
Doomtown writer Devlin is represented by UTA, Bellevue Productions, and Jackoway Austen Tyerman, while Barker is represented by UTA, Underground, and Yorn, Levine, Barnes.
