Dempsey Bryk Becomes a Series Regular in Season 2 of Amazon MGM’s ‘We Were Liars’
Dempsey Bryk Elevated to Series Regular in We Were Liars
Dempsey Bryk has officially been promoted to a series regular for the second season of We Were Liars, a thriller series from Amazon MGM Studios based on the acclaimed young adult novel by E. Lockhart.
Bryk made his debut in Season 1 as Ebon, a rugged Boston native navigating the privileged circles of Martha’s Vineyard while captaining a charter boat for high-profile clients. Following a traumatic event in the previous season, Ebon returns, determined to focus on earning a living rather than forging new connections. With a newfound edge and a reluctance to engage with the secrets of the elite, Ebon finds himself increasingly entangled in their murky affairs.
We Were Liars follows Cadence Sinclair Eastman, portrayed by Emily Alyn Lind, as she revisits her family’s private island each summer with a tight-knit group known as "the Liars." There, she grapples with the aftermath of a mysterious accident that left her with amnesia. The Sinclair family, depicted as American royalty, is shrouded in dark secrets, complicating Cadence’s quest for truth following the life-altering event.
The first season’s cast also featured Shubham Maheshwari as Gat Patil, Esther McGregor as Mirren Sinclair Sheffield, Joseph Zada as Johnny Sinclair Dennis, and Mamie Gummer as Carrie Sinclair, among others.
Co-showrunners Julie Plec and Carina Adly MacKenzie spearhead the series, with executive producers including Emily Cummins, Brett Matthews, Pascal Verschooris, and Lockhart. The project is supported by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, alongside Amazon MGM Studios. The source novel is published by Delacorte Press, an imprint of Random House Children’s Books.
In addition to his new role, Bryk will premiere his feature directorial debut, Crash Land, at SXSW. Produced under his Loser Films banner, the film tells the story of a group of small-town amateur stuntmen engaged in reckless antics and filmed pranks reminiscent of Jackass. Notable co-stars include Finn Wolfhard, Abby Quinn, Gabriel LaBelle, and Bryk’s brother, Billy.
As an actor, Bryk is recognized for his performances in Willow, Going Dutch, and Ordinary Angels and is represented by Canopy Media Partners, Buchwald, OAZ, and Bloch Law.
