Day Laborers Voice Concerns Over Noise Machines at Cypress Park Home Depot
Day Laborers Demand Removal of Noise Machines at Cypress Park Home Depot
Day laborers in Cypress Park are urging Home Depot to take down noise machines recently installed in the parking lot of the store, which is located north of downtown Los Angeles. The company asserts that these machines are part of an initiative aimed at preventing illegal overnight parking.
The machines, mounted on light poles, emit a high-pitched sound that some workers claim causes headaches and nausea. Advocates for day laborers argue that the noise serves to deter them from seeking work near the store.
In a statement provided to NBC4, Home Depot explained that the noise is one of several measures implemented to maintain store safety and discourage overnight parking. However, video evidence indicates that the noise is active during daylight hours as well.
Photos shared with NBC4 show various vehicles, including RVs, parked in the lot alongside debris. Home Depot reports that the Cypress Park location is the only one in the area utilizing these machines and claims to have observed a significant difference since their installation.
