David E. Kelley Shares New Details About ‘Big Little Lies’ Season 3
Big Little Lies creator and Television Academy Hall of Famer David E. Kelley has provided a brief update on the long-awaited third season of the HBO drama.
In a recent interview with People, Kelley shared that while he is “not allowed” to disclose specific details, fans can look forward to a reunion featuring the beloved mothers from the show’s coastal community.
“We’re getting the band back together, and it should be a good run again,” Kelley remarked.
Meanwhile, author Liane Moriarty’s follow-up novel, set to be released on August 25, will introduce a time jump, depicting the characters as mothers of teenagers. Moriarty reflected on this concept, explaining, “Right from the beginning, because of the show, there was talk about writing a sequel, but I was never interested right away because you put your characters through so much and it just didn’t make sense to me to write something that followed on directly. A time jump always made sense to me.”
Big Little Lies stars notable actors including Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Zoë Kravitz, Laura Dern, and Shailene Woodley, as well as Alexander Skarsgård, Adam Scott, James Tupper, Jeffrey Nordling, and Meryl Streep, who joined in Season 2. The first season, centered around a group of women in Monterey, California, caught up in a homicide investigation, won half of its 16 Emmy nominations.
Outside of Big Little Lies, Kelley has created Margo’s Got Money Troubles, an upcoming Apple TV dramedy starring Elle Fanning, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Nick Offerman, scheduled to premiere on April 15.
