David Cross Announces His Ninth Comedy Special: The End Of The Beginning Of The End
David Cross Debuts New Comedy Special, ‘The End of the Beginning of the End’
David Cross has launched his latest comedy special, The End of the Beginning of the End, which is available exclusively on his website starting today and set to be released on YouTube on April 7. This marks the ninth special in his impressive career.
Filmed in Athens, Georgia, at the historic 40 Watt club, Cross addresses the tumultuous landscape of contemporary America. His performance critiques various pressing issues, including authoritarian politics, recent challenges to reproductive rights, religious extremism, late-stage capitalism, and the American penchant for sneaker hoarding.
In a humorous twist, Cross quipped, “this whole thing was written by some of the cheapest AI available.” He also referenced “Raj McMacintish at ‘AI 4 Every1’ located next to the exotic pet store in Fairhaven FL” for those intrigued by the writing process.
As both director and executive producer, Cross collaborated with a team that includes Dexter Scott, Dave Kneebone, Tom Segura, and Ryan P. Hall, while YMH Studios handles production. The distribution is managed by 800 Pound Gorilla Media.
Cross, an Emmy Award-winning performer and two-time Grammy nominee, boasts over four decades of experience in stand-up comedy. He has garnered critical acclaim for previous specials, such as Making America Great Again!, Oh Come On, I’m From The Future, and The Pride Is Back. Known for his ferocity, absurdity, and sharp wit, he is also widely recognized for his role as Tobias Funke in the iconic television series Arrested Development.
Throughout his career, Cross has co-created and starred in significant productions like the HBO sketch series Mr. Show with Bob and David and its Netflix revival, With Bob and David. Other notable works include The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret and the indie film Hits, which premiered at Sundance.
Cross is represented by UTA, Brillstein Entertainment Partners, and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern.
