Dark Winds Is Set for Season 5 Renewal at AMC Networks
AMC Networks has announced an early renewal for Dark Winds, securing a fifth season ahead of the show’s fourth season premiere this Sunday. This decision reflects the network’s confidence in the series, which continues to captivate audiences.
Filming for Season 5 is set to take place in Santa Fe, New Mexico, beginning in March. The new season will comprise eight hour-long episodes slated for release in 2027.
Based on the Leaphorn & Chee book series by Tony Hillerman, Dark Winds follows Lieutenant Joe Leaphorn, played by Zahn McClarnon, along with Jim Chee, portrayed by Kiowa Gordon, and Bernadette Manuelito, portrayed by Jessica Matten. Together, they work as members of the Navajo Tribal Police, tackling increasingly violent crimes on their reservation in the 1970s. The series is adapted for television by Graham Roland.
The fourth season will revolve around the urgent search for a missing Navajo girl. This investigation propels Leaphorn, Chee, and Manuelito beyond the confines of the Navajo Nation into the complex urban landscape of 1970s Los Angeles, confronting a dangerous killer connected to organized crime.
