Dara’s ‘Bangaranga’ Takes Bulgaria to Victory at Eurovision 2026
Bulgaria Wins First Eurovision Title with Dara’s Electrifying Performance
In a historic moment for Bulgarian music, pop star Dara secured the country’s first victory at the Eurovision Song Contest on Saturday night, May 17, 2026, in Vienna. Her performance of "Bangaranga," a high-energy electronic anthem enriched with Bulgarian folk elements, stood out among the competition and became one of the most memorable acts of the night.
Performing at the famed Wiener Stadthalle, Dara’s captivating staging and powerful live rendition propelled Bulgaria to this landmark win, following years of near misses and occasional withdrawals from the contest. Israel finished in second place, while Romania rounded out the top three.
The results were determined through a combination of votes from national juries and viewers from 35 participating countries, underlining the international appeal of the finalists.
In another notable performance, Australia’s Delta Goodrem captured widespread acclaim, finishing fourth with her power ballad "Eclipse." This marked Australia’s strongest result in several years. Goodrem’s cinematic stage design transformed the venue into a dreamscape, reflecting the themes of her song and featuring a custom couture gown embellished with over 7,000 Swarovski crystals.
“Representing Australia on the Eurovision stage and being part of this incredible community has been unforgettable,” Goodrem expressed. “I’m so grateful for all the love and support from home and around the world — it has carried me every step of the way.”
Co-written by Goodrem with Ferras Alqaisi, Jonas Myrin, and Michael Fatkin, "Eclipse" showcases her prowess as one of Australia’s most celebrated performers. Previously, she has crafted songs for Eurovision winner Celine Dion and collaborated with the late Olivia Newton-John.
The Eurovision campaign marks a significant chapter in Goodrem’s career, as she announced her upcoming eighth studio album Pure, scheduled for release on November 6. This album will be her first full-length project in five years and promises a blend of intimate piano-led tracks and expansive cinematic sounds exploring themes of clarity, emotion, and renewal. Ahead of its launch, Goodrem plans to preview new material through a series of intimate performances titled "Pure: Prelude."
The Grand Final will air in primetime on SBS and SBS On Demand on Sunday, May 17, at 7:30 p.m.
