Dan Stevens Becomes a Series Regular in Season 2 of Dexter: Resurrection
Dan Stevens Joins the Cast of Showtime’s Dexter: Resurrection for Season 2
In an exclusive announcement, Dan Stevens, known for his roles in Zero Day and Downton Abbey, is set to join the cast of Showtime’s Dexter: Resurrection as a series regular for its second season. Stevens follows the recent casting of Brian Cox, who will portray the enigmatic Don Framt, an elusive figure from Season 1. Uma Thurman is also returning as Charley, a former Special Ops officer who fled the city in the Season 1 finale.
Stevens will assume the role of Owen Stark, the Five Borough Killer, who is positioned as a major antagonist in the upcoming season. Stark is a serial killer reminiscent of the Zodiac, known for taunting police with threatening phone calls before executing his horrific plans, thereby instilling fear across the city.
The show’s first season, crafted by showrunner and executive producer Clyde Phillips, picks up after Dexter Morgan, played by Michael C. Hall, is shot by his own son. Awakening from a coma to discover that his son Harrison, portrayed by Jack Alcott, is missing, Dexter embarks on a journey to locate him and rectify his past mistakes.
As Dexter grapples with his legacy, questions arise from Miami Metro’s Angel Batista, played by David Zayas, who confronts Dexter with the implications of his previous actions. The narrative unfolds against the vibrant backdrop of New York City, bringing father and son face to face with darkness that seems deeper than anticipated.
Season 1 featured a strong supporting cast, including Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Kadia Saraf, Dominic Fumusa, Emilia Suárez, and James Remar. Guest appearances were made by Neil Patrick Harris, Krysten Ritter, Eric Stonestreet, and David Dastmalchian, showcasing a diverse range of characters. The plot details for Season 2 remain closely guarded.
In addition to Phillips, Dexter: Resurrection is produced by Michael C. Hall, Scott Reynolds, Marcos Siega, Tony Hernandez, and Lilly Burns, alongside executive producers John Goldwyn and Sara Colleton. The collaboration brings together creative talents from Paramount Television Studios and Counterpart Studios.
Stevens recently starred in Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire and the indie film Cuckoo. Upcoming projects include leading and serving as an executive producer for the horror anthology series The Terror: Devil in Silver, as well as collaborating again with director Adam Wingard on the film Onslaught. He will also appear in Babies, directed by Lauren Miller Rogan.
