Cynthia Erivo Shares How Her Second Golden Globe Nomination Complements the Success of Wicked

Cynthia Erivo is celebrating her second consecutive Golden Globe nomination for her role as Elphaba in the *Wicked* movies.
“WOW!!! What lovely news to receive live from the rehearsal room of @draculawestend. It’s an honor to be nominated once again for this film,” Erivo shared on her Instagram Stories on December 8. She is nominated for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy for *Wicked: For Good*.
Erivo expressed gratitude for the opportunity, stating, “It has been a beautiful journey to play this character, and this is the cherry on top. This entire journey could never have been possible without the wonderful leadership of my brother and glorious director @jonmchu and producer extraordinaire everyone could only wish for, Marc Platt.”
Notably, Erivo and her costar Ariana Grande achieved a rare milestone by receiving back-to-back nominations for their performances in the *Wicked* adaptation. Grande is also nominated for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy at the upcoming awards show.
Erivo also congratulated Grande, writing, “Congratulations to my sweet sister @arianagrande!! Thank you @goldenglobes!!”

Erivo is nominated alongside Rose Byrne (*If I Had Legs I’d Kick You*), Kate Hudson (*Song Sung Blue*), Chase Infiniti (*One Battle After Another*), Amanda Seyfried (*The Testament of Ann Lee*), and Emma Stone (*Bugonia*). Grande is in contention against Emily Blunt (*The Smashing Machine*), Elle Fanning (*Sentimental Value*), Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas (*Sentimental Value*), Amy Madigan (*Weapons*), and Teyana Taylor (*One Battle After Another*).
The *Wicked: For Good* film received a total of five nominations at this year’s Globes. In comparison, *One Battle After Another* led among films with nine nominations, followed by *Sentimental Value* with eight, and *Sinners* with seven.
Last year’s *Wicked* garnered four Golden Globe nominations. Although neither Grande nor Erivo won for their performances, the film claimed the award for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement. This year, it is nominated again for the same category. The film also received seven nominations, including one for Grande, at the upcoming 2026 Critics Choice Awards, announced on December 5.
The 2026 Golden Globe Awards will be hosted by comedian Nikki Glaser on January 11 at 8 p.m. ET and will air on CBS and stream on Paramount+.
