Cynthia Erivo inaugurated the 2025 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade with a stunning rendition of “Feeling Good.”
The 38-year-old star of Wicked: For Good captivated audiences as she took the stage on Thursday, November 27, performing the classic song popularized by Nina Simone in 1965.
Dressed in a long burgundy coat and matching hat, Erivo stood at the center of a circular stage amidst vibrant maple trees, while enthusiastic crowds lined the street.
“Feeling Good” was originally penned by Anthony Newley and Leslie Bricusse for the 1964 musical The Roar of the Greasepaint – The Smell of the Crowd, with the first on-stage performance by Cy Grant.
In addition to her parade performance, Erivo plays the role of Elphaba in Wicked: For Good, the much-anticipated sequel directed by Jon M. Chu. The film, released on November 21, also features Ariana Grande as the beloved character Glinda.
This year’s Thanksgiving Day Parade showcased an array of performances, including appearances by Kpop Demon Hunters singers HUNTR/X, as well as Lainey Wilson, Ciara, Foreigner, Debbie Gibson, Jewel, Lil Jon, Kool & the Gang, Taylor Momsen, Busta Rhymes, Shaggy, and Teyana Taylor.
The 99th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade marked the official start of the 2025 holiday season, airing live across all U.S. time zones on NBC and Peacock at 8:30 a.m. ET. The event was hosted by TODAY anchors Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb, and Al Roker.
