Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson to Develop True-Crime Series for A&E
Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, known for his work on the Power and BMF franchises, is collaborating with Citizen Jones to create a new true-crime series for A&E. This project is a joint effort between Jackson’s G-Unit Film & Television and Citizen Jones, helmed by Jonah Bekhor and Jonas Bell Pasht.
Tentatively titled Gang Wars, the series promises to delve into America’s most notorious gang rivalries, offering a raw and unfiltered perspective. With unprecedented access and previously unheard accounts, it will explore the street battles, betrayals, and power dynamics that have shaped the modern criminal landscape. While the specific rivalries featured in the series remain undisclosed, there is a wealth of material to draw from. More details are anticipated in the coming months.
Should the project be greenlit, it would add to the slate of unscripted content produced by G-Unit and Citizen Jones. Recent works from G-Unit include the second season of The BMF Documentary: Blowing Money Fast, set to premiere on January 16 on Starz. The company has also produced Sean Combs: The Reckoning for Netflix, TikTok Star Murders, The Gilgo Beach Killer: House of Secrets for Peacock, and Hip Hop Homicides for WE TV.
Jackson’s production company is notably behind the acclaimed Power franchise, which has yielded four spinoffs: Power Book II: Ghost, Power Book III: Raising Kanan, and Power Book IV: Force. The latest addition, Power: Origins, is currently in production in New York and New Jersey, following the events of the forthcoming fifth season of Raising Kanan. Jackson also served as executive producer for the crime drama Black Mafia Family, which recently wrapped its fourth and final season.
Citizen Jones is recognized for its work on projects like How to Become a Cult Leader, How to Become a Mob Boss, and How to Become a Tyrant for Netflix, along with The Rocky Mountain Mortician Murder for Investigation Discovery. The company is also behind Blood & Myth for Hulu, which follows an Alaskan Iñupiaq actor who becomes a fugitive after a series of violent crimes.
Jackson is represented by IAG and attorney Stephen J. Savv, while Citizen Jones is represented by UTA.
