Culver City Police Help Return Stolen Packages After Stopping Suspected Repeat Offender
Culver City Police Recover Stolen Packages Ahead of Christmas
Culver City, Calif. – The Culver City Police Department is making a concerted effort to return stolen packages and gifts in time for the holiday season.
Authorities reported that during a traffic stop early Sunday morning, officers uncovered a cache of stolen goods, including packages and identification belonging to several victims. This incident underscores the department’s continued vigilance against theft, particularly during the peak holiday period.
"The stop occurred around 3:30 a.m. near Slauson Avenue and Buckingham Parkway," said Public Information Officer Jennifer Atenza. "We apprehended a driver with a lengthy criminal history who allegedly had a firearm and numerous bags of stolen property in their vehicle."
Police noted that many of the stolen packages were addressed to residents within Culver City. "Every holiday season, there’s an uptick in this kind of theft. It’s a crucial reminder for individuals to remain alert, especially with all sorts of packages arriving at their doorsteps," Atenza added.
In light of recent thefts, the police department is urging community members to enhance their delivery security. Suggestions include setting delivery alerts and promptly bringing packages indoors. Ways to deter potential thieves include proper lighting and motion detectors.
"The driver was arrested for burglary," Atenza confirmed, emphasizing that those considering theft during the holidays should be aware they are likely to be caught.
The police department is actively working to return the recovered items to their rightful owners before Christmas. "We look forward to reuniting individuals with their items, many of which are likely holiday gifts," Atenza remarked.
Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activity as the department continues its efforts to safeguard the community.
