Crew Member Injured in Accident While Working on How To Train Your Dragon 2
A special effects technician on the set of Universal’s live-action How to Train Your Dragon 2 suffered severe injuries, losing multiple fingers during a recent accident in the UK.
The incident occurred in a workshop at Sky Studios Elstree, where the film is currently being produced, according to a report from Variety. A source familiar with the situation confirmed the accident involved a saw, but additional details have not been disclosed. Universal has chosen not to comment further on the matter.
Dean DeBlois is returning to write, direct, and executive produce How to Train Your Dragon 2, which is scheduled for release on June 11, 2027. The film is being produced by Marc Platt, known for his work on Bridge of Spies, alongside Adam Siegel, President of Marc Platt Productions.
The How to Train Your Dragon franchise, based on the bestselling book series by Cressida Cowell, has collectively grossed over $2.2 billion across four films. The latest live-action adaptation achieved remarkable success, earning $636.4 million globally last summer, marking the highest box office performance for the series.
The sequel features a cast that includes Phil Dunster, Mason Thames, Nico Parker, Gerard Butler, Cate Blanchett, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, Julian Dennison, Gabriel Howell, Bronwyn James, and Harry Trevaldwyn.
