Courtney B. Vance Celebrates the Talented Actors Who Shaped His Journey: “I’m Grateful for Their Influence”

Courtney B. Vance was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on December 16, a moment marked by heartfelt tributes to those who have supported him throughout his career. The ceremony took place on Hollywood Boulevard, where Vance expressed his gratitude to a multitude of people who have been instrumental in his journey through the entertainment industry.
“I have learned that I’m not rich in money or things. I’m rich in the people who surround myself and our family,” Vance remarked during his speech. He went on to thank those who helped him along the way, including renowned figures such as Meryl Streep and his mentors, Lloyd Richards and Earle Gister.

Vance continued his appreciation, mentioning legends such as James Earl Jones, Mary Alice, and the cast of the Broadway production of *Fences*. He also credited his family, including his wife, Angela Bassett, and their children, Bronwyn and Slater, for their unwavering support.
Reflecting on his wife’s own star ceremony in 2008, Vance shared, “I saw this honor bestowed upon my wife… to return to this hallowed place directly across the street from where she was honored and have that same honor bestowed upon me is really more happiness than I emotionally can bear, but I must shoulder on,” a statement that drew laughter from the audience.

In her speech, Bassett described Vance as a “committed, relatable and deeply reliable” actor, praising him for bringing emotional depth and authenticity to every performance. “Today’s honor is deeply deserved,” she stated, recognizing not only his artistic accomplishments but also his integrity and generosity.
Following the emotional speeches, Vance’s children also honored him with tributes. Slater referred to his father as “the most altruistic public servant that I’ve ever encountered,” lauding his dedication to others. Bronwyn emphasized his role as an award-winning father, reminding the audience of Vance’s significant contributions both on screen and at home.
Bronwyn concluded by encouraging her father to embrace the celebration, stating, “There’s no one more deserving of a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, not just for the greatness you’ve given this industry, but for the greatness of who you are.”
“I love you, Dad,” she added, echoing the sentiments of those present.
