Comedian Sommore Announces Her Second Netflix Special, ‘Chandelier Fly’
EXCLUSIVE: Comedian Sommore will debut her new Netflix special, Chandelier Fly, on February 17.
The special was filmed at the Garden Theater in Detroit, Michigan, and marks Sommore’s second offering on the platform, following the 2023 special Queen Chandelier. In this latest performance, she explores themes such as untimely death, celebrity scandals, and the need for cell phone companies to focus on their core business.
Directed by Kevin Layne, Sommore is an executive producer of the special, in addition to writing and performing.
A stand-up comedian since 1995, Sommore first rose to prominence as the first female host of BET’s ComicView, and she was also one of the four female headliners on The Queens of Comedy tour, alongside Laura Hayes, Adele Givens, and Mo’Nique.

Beyond stand-up, Sommore is an accomplished actress, writer, executive producer, entrepreneur, and television host. She has written, self-produced, and performed in several solo comedy specials, including 2008’s The Queen Stands Alone (Comedy Central), 2013’s Chandelier Status (Showtime), 2015’s The Reign Continues (Showtime), and 2018’s A Queen with No Spades (Showtime). Additionally, she produced and hosted 2018’s All the Queen’s Men for BET, showcasing the stand-up of four of her opening acts. Sommore has also appeared in films such as Friday After Next, Soul Plane, and Something New, as well as television series including The Parkers and The Hughleys.
Sommore has made notable appearances on The Oprah Winfrey Show, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The View, Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher, and CNN. She is represented by Bax World Entertainment and Universal Attractions.
