Comedian Raanan Hershberg Announces Premiere Date for New Special
Comedian Raanan Hershberg is set to premiere his latest hour, Morbidly Jewish: A New Special, on his YouTube channel at 8 p.m. EST on Thursday, January 15th.
Directed by Dave Hogsett, the special centers around Hershberg’s experience following a 2024 appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience, where he expressed his disbelief in conspiracy theories. The backlash resulted in a flurry of heated comments, which serve as a backdrop for the show’s humor. Morbidly Jewish features Hershberg at his most incisively comedic, tackling themes of hypocrisy, overthinking, and societal confidence amid uncertainty. Filmed at Sesh Comedy Club in Lower Manhattan last May, the special promises an hour of sharp, loud, and distinctive comedy.
Originally from Louisville, KY, and now based in New York, Hershberg has made notable appearances on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, The Late Late Show with James Corden, and CBS’s After Midnight. His most recent special, Brave, released by 800 Pound Gorilla in February 2025, delves into the political divide in America while recounting personal experiences, including his wife’s open-heart surgery early in their relationship and the complexities of his upbringing. Prior to Brave, he self-produced Jokes from the Underground, which garnered nearly 200,000 views, showcasing his talent at the Comedy Cellar in New York.
In addition to his comedy work, Hershberg co-wrote and co-directed the short film Memory Room, which won the grand prize at The New York Shorts Film Festival last year. He also hosts the movie podcast Your Favorite Movie Sucks and is represented by Justin Silvera and Ian Arougheti at SA Entertainment Group.
