Comedian Derrick Stroup Signs Netflix Deal for His First Full-Length Special, ‘Nostalgic’
Comedian Derrick Stroup to Premiere First Full-Length Special on Netflix
Comedian Derrick Stroup has secured a deal with Netflix for his debut full-length special, Nostalgic, produced by Nate Bargatze’s Nateland Entertainment. The special is scheduled to be released globally on March 10.
In Nostalgic, Stroup reflects on his childhood as a ’90s kid growing up in rural Alabama, exploring themes such as friendships, family relationships, and nostalgic pastimes. The performance was recorded at the Lyric Theatre in Birmingham, Alabama.
Stroup served as an executive producer for the special alongside Nate Bargatze, Alex Murray, Tim Sarkes, and Adrian Kulp. Production was managed by Matt Schuler, Jarad Clement, and Jay Hawley. A trailer for the special is available for viewing.
Known for his high-energy storytelling and distinctive delivery, Stroup is preparing for his third appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon next month. He will also feature alongside Bargatze in The Breadwinner, a family comedy from TriStar Pictures directed by Eric Appel, which is set to hit theaters on May 29.
Currently on his Mad About Nothing tour, Stroup often shares stages with notable headliners such as Bert Kreischer, Larry the Cable Guy, and John Crist. He recently showcased a short set as part of Comedy Central Stand-Up Featuring and was recognized as a New Face at Just For Laughs Montreal in 2023.
