Coby Brown, the son-in-law of actor Robert Carradine, shared heartfelt reflections on social media following Carradine’s passing at the age of 71. In a post on Instagram from February 24, Brown, 52, expressed his grief and admiration for the beloved actor, stating, “Somehow the guy from my favorite movie as a kid became my father-in-law. He passed today.” He described Carradine as “100% California, effortlessly cool,” and recognized his deep passion for film and music, adding that Carradine was always eager to participate in his music videos and attend performances.
Brown, a musician married to Carradine’s eldest daughter, Ever Carradine, for two decades, underscored the lasting impact Carradine had on their family: “Think I’m going to leave an empty chair for him in the front row going forward. We’re gonna miss him so much. Go watch him in something; he was a fantastic actor and a fantastic dad and grandfather. Love you, Bobby 💔⚡️.”
Robert Carradine’s family announced his death earlier this week, revealing their profound sorrow. In a statement to Deadline on February 23, they expressed, “It is with profound sadness that we must share that our beloved father, grandfather, uncle, and brother Robert Carradine has passed away. In a world that can feel so dark, Bobby was always a beacon [of] light to everyone around him.”
The family acknowledged Carradine’s long battle with bipolar disorder and expressed hope that his journey could help reduce the stigma around mental illness. They requested privacy as they navigate this difficult time.

The cause of Carradine’s death has not been disclosed. He is survived by his brothers, three children, and several grandchildren. Notably, he shared one daughter, Ever, with his former spouse, Susan Snyder, and two children with Edie Mani.
Ever Carradine also reflected on her father’s passing, noting the closeness of their age and the bond they shared. In a social media post, she wrote, “My sweet, funny dad, who’s only 20 years older than I am, who never missed an opportunity to drive me to the airport or tell me how much he loved my homemade salad dressing, is gone.” She added that her father’s unwavering support contributed significantly to her sense of normalcy, despite a colorful upbringing.
