City Evacuates Redondo Beach Pier Due to Police Activity
Beachgoers Evacuated from Redondo Beach Pier Amid Police Activity
Authorities issued an evacuation notice for the Redondo Beach Pier on Sunday morning due to unspecified police activity, urging beachgoers to leave the area. The alert, announced around 10 a.m., provided limited details, simply describing the situation as “police activity.”
In response to the ongoing investigation, Catalina Avenue from Torrance Boulevard to Beryl Street was closed to traffic until further notice.
The police presence coincided with the scheduled BeachLife Festival, an event that attracts numerous visitors to the beach each year. Organizers have not yet confirmed whether the police activity will affect Sunday’s festivities.
At this time, the reasons for the increased police presence remain unclear.
