Christina Applegate Shares Her Journey to Improved Health After Hospitalization: “I’m Feeling Stronger Each Day”
Christina Applegate has issued a message following reports of her hospitalization.
In a recent social media post, the former star of Married with Children expressed her gratitude for the support she has received and promised to provide more updates soon.
“Thank you for the outpouring of love and well wishes,” Applegate wrote on Instagram. “Health issues are a constant for me, but I’m a strong chick and I’m getting stronger and better every day.”
She added, “I’m taking a moment to focus on my health, but I’ll be back with more to say soon enough.”
Applegate was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) in 2021, recalling that her first symptoms appeared while filming the Netflix series Dead to Me.
“I remember falling that day. Hi, first sign of MS!” she remarked in a discussion with Liz Feldman on the MeSsy podcast, referencing a scene where her character, Jen, ran across a field.
Feldman recalled, “I remember you losing your balance a couple of times but it was very hard to figure out. I remember one time it was like really late at night; we’d been shooting probably 14 or 15 hours, and it seemed completely reasonable that anybody would be collapsing.”
In an interview with Vanity Fair, Applegate indicated that she may not work in front of the camera again but is open to voice-over roles.
“Ping-pong is so much more fun when the other person is just as good as you are. I’m probably not going to work on-camera again, but I’m so glad that I went out with someone who is by far the greatest actress I’ve ever worked with in my entire life, if not the greatest human I’ve ever known,” she stated in the interview.
She added, “I can’t even imagine going to set right now. This is a progressive disease. I don’t know if I’m going to get worse. I can do voiceover stuff because I have to support my family and keep my brain working.”
