Chris Evans Teams Up with Jessica Chastain, Chris Pine, and Others for Exciting New Crime Thriller ‘My Darling California’ This Summer
Chris Evans Joins the Cast of ‘My Darling California’
In a notable shift for the upcoming crime-thriller My Darling California, Chris Evans, widely recognized for his roles in Avengers and Materialists, has been cast alongside a star-studded ensemble. This announcement comes from writer-director Elijah Bynum, who previously garnered attention for Magazine Dreams.
The film will feature acclaimed actors including Jessica Chastain, known for Zero Dark Thirty, Chris Pine from the Star Trek franchise, Mikey Madison of Anora, Charles Melton from May December, and Don Cheadle of the Ocean’s franchise.
Evans steps into the role after the departure of Josh Brolin, who left the project due to scheduling conflicts.
Set against the backdrop of 1980s Los Angeles, My Darling California explores how a singular crime intertwines the lives of a television host, his restless wife, a country music star, two petty criminals, and an ex-convict—all in pursuit of the American Dream. Filming is expected to commence in late summer or September.
Anton is fully financing the film and will manage international sales at the forthcoming Cannes market. Both Anton and CAA Media Finance are handling U.S. and global rights for the project.
The film is being produced by David Hinojosa (Materialists), Alex Coco (Anora), and Sébastien Reybaud (Greenland), with Zach Nutman attached as executive producer.
Evans is represented by CAA, Untitled Entertainment, and Jason Sloane. The film’s director Bynum is represented by CAA, Kaplan/Perrone Entertainment, and Myman Greenspan Fox. Additionally, Chastain is with CAA, Mosaic, and Hansen Jacobson; Pine with CAA, Brillstein Entertainment Partners, and Gendler, Kelly & Cunningham; Madison through UTA, Authentic Talent and Literary, and Sloane Offer Weber & Dern; Cheadle through UTA; and Melton by 111 Media, CAA, and Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole.
