Mandy Moore, the choreographer, has recently met her famous namesake at long last. After years of nearly crossing paths, the Emmy-winning choreographer known for her work on shows like *So You Think You Can Dance* and *Dancing with the Stars* finally connected with actress and singer Mandy Moore.
In a recent episode of *The Joe Vulpis Podcast*, released on December 23, the choreographer shared the details of their long-awaited meeting. Despite numerous close encounters, including red carpet events and a planned lunch that never happened due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the two had not met until recently.
As fate would have it, their meeting occurred in an American Airlines lounge at Los Angeles International Airport. “Literally 4 a.m. at LAX … I look over and I’m like, ‘That’s Mandy Moore,’” she recalled with excitement. Although hesitating initially, they boarded the same flight, leading the choreographer to finally introduce herself: “I was like, ‘Mandy?'”
Actress Mandy Moore responded warmly, exclaiming, “Mandy!” and greeted her namesake with a large hug. The moment encapsulated years of confusion that had followed the choreographer throughout her career.
“I think this is the funniest thing in the world that I have the same name as a very lovely lady, Mandy Moore,” she said, acknowledging the mix-up as both an inconvenience and a source of amusement.

Due to years of being mistaken for each other, the two had previously interacted online, making their face-to-face introduction all the more significant. “We’ve gone back and forth on Twitter because everyone always thinks she’s me and I’m her,” the choreographer explained.
Embracing the mix-up, Moore (the choreographer) has even named her company “Nope, Not Her.” “People… they’re like, ‘Nope, another?’ They don’t quite get it,” she mentioned. “But when you see it, you can’t unsee it.”
At 49, Moore has built a successful career as a choreographer, having worked on *Dancing with the Stars*, *So You Think You Can Dance*, and notable choreography in films like *La La Land* and *Snow White*. She also recently appeared in Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour docuseries, providing fans with a behind-the-scenes look at her choreography during the tour.
The other Mandy Moore, 41, gained fame in the late ’90s with hit songs such as “Candy” and later became a successful actress, starring in productions like *A Walk to Remember* and *This Is Us*. She is also the voice of Rapunzel in Disney’s *Tangled* franchise.
Fans can next see the actress alongside comedian Nate Bargatze in the film *The Breadwinner*, set for release on March 13, 2026.
