Charlie Puth Discusses Fatherhood and Upcoming Tour
Recently, Charlie Puth opened up about his thoughts on touring and becoming a first-time father. The singer revealed that his baby is due in March, coinciding with the release of his latest album.
In a candid interview with Rolling Stone, published on January 20, Puth shared his concerns about balancing fatherhood with his career. "I honestly can’t even think about it right now because that’s why my jaw tenses up," he reflected.
Puth expressed his desire to provide a stable environment for his child, stating, "I always want to make sure that I’m there for baby. I wanna make sure that the baby has a normal life, and we’ll have the big headphones onstage, behind stage, and hopefully I can wave to baby."
His tour, titled Whatever’s Clever!, is set to begin on April 22 in San Diego. When asked if his wife, Brooke Sansone, and their newborn would accompany him, he replied, "not for everything."
Puth described touring as "a really unnatural thing," acknowledging that constant travel may not be sustainable. "I just want the most normal life for my child possible. I don’t want them to travel on airplanes constantly," he said.
The announcement of Puth’s impending fatherhood came in October during the music video for his song "Changes." He fondly recalled how his own mother would play music for him in the womb, hinting that he plans to follow suit. "I feel like I’m going to do what my mom did for me," Puth shared, mentioning the big headphones of the ’90s.
As he prepares for this significant life change, Puth is also gearing up for his fourth studio album, Whatever’s Clever!, set to release on March 27. He has already shared the singles "Changes" and "Beat Yourself Up," which features his signature sound and style.

"I’m gonna be a dad," Puth affirmed, quickly adding that he has been advised not to disclose the baby’s gender. "I hope baby likes music because it’s the only thing I’m good at," he remarked, revealing his aspiration to nurture a love for music in his child from the very beginning.
