Celebrities Are Leading the Way in Spring Fashion Trends You’ll Want to Follow
Fashion Capitals Showcase Spring-Summer 2026 Collections
The recent Spring-Summer 2026 collections, unveiled in New York, London, Milan, and Paris during September and October, heralded a transformative season in fashion. A highlight was the debut of several prominent designers at major brands, generating early excitement even before the collections hit stores or red carpets. Selected pieces have already been spotted on a limited number of celebrities.
Brands are increasingly eager to see their designs worn by well-known figures. “In some cases, it’s because the brands have employed these people as ambassadors, so they’re on payroll,” noted Booth Moore, a veteran fashion editor and author of American Runway. She pointed out recent appearances by Greta Lee, who is now a global face for Dior, and often steps out in the brand’s latest creations. Others, like Sarah Paulson, who donned Balenciaga for promotional events, demonstrate the blend of visibility and brand representation that shapes fashion choices. Moore emphasized that sometimes a celebrity appearance is a standalone event, such as Michelle Obama’s choice to wear fashionable looks that resonate globally.
Traditionally, red carpet moments reflected fashion’s production timelines, with celebrities showcasing runway designs shortly before their retail debut. These appearances played a vital role in enticing shoppers, even for small beauty products. However, the landscape has shifted dramatically, shrinking this timeline to a mere month. Current trends allow designs shown on the runway to be flaunted at various high-profile events, including movie premieres and talk shows, reflecting the increasing number of celebrity gatherings.
Some designers, like Dario Vitale of Versace, have accelerated this pace by unveiling collections on red carpets even before they are presented on the runway. “There are a record number of brands trying to change their image at the same time,” Moore explained. “Their reliance on Hollywood as a promotional machine has increased significantly, creating a frenzy to grab the attention of the right influencers first.”
The competition among stylists has also intensified. Everyone is vying for recognition from media and online commentators, battling for the coveted best-dressed list spots. For some stylists, the revival of archival or vintage designs adds prestige, while many others find that the first to wear a new look gains access, status, and trend-setting power. Celebrities, who historically donned custom designs for major events, have begun to embrace even the smallest occasions for showcasing fashion.
Images from recent catwalk shows highlight these designer pieces and the stars who wore them.
Former US first lady Michelle Obama, on a promotional tour for her new book The Look, wore a dress designed by Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez’s debut for Loewe.

First shown on the runway at Paris Fashion Week, this draped dress was styled for Obama by Meredith Koop, reflecting Loewe’s "optimistic spirit."

Obama also donned the first look from Matthieu Blazy’s debut Spring 2026 Chanel collection, adjusting the blazer for her appearance.

Obama complemented her suit with white pompom earrings, a style worn by models during the Chanel show.

Actor Ayo Edebiri, recently named a global ambassador for Chanel, wore a silk chiffon gown from the Spring 2026 collection at the premiere of After the Hunt.

Actress Jennifer Lawrence, a long-time Dior ambassador, wore custom designs from the brand’s new creative director, Jonathan Anderson, to various events, including the Rome Film Festival.

Greta Lee has embraced the designs of Jonathan Anderson as Dior’s ambassador, showcasing looks from the Spring 2026 collection.

At the world premiere of All’s Fair, Sarah Paulson chose a look from Balenciaga’s Spring 2026 runway, styled by Karla Welch.
This season’s rapid evolution reflects the changing dynamics of fashion, where the influential intersection of design, visibility, and celebrity continues to shape trends and consumer interest.
