Celebrating a Century of Friendship at the Los Angeles Breakfast Club
Los Angeles Breakfast Club Celebrates 100 Years with a Gala Event
The Los Angeles Breakfast Club, a cherished social organization whose notable members have included Walt Disney and Amelia Earhart, marked its centennial this past weekend with a grand celebration at its Los Feliz headquarters.
For a century, the club has gathered every Wednesday before dawn, fostering a sense of community and connection among its members. As part of its ongoing legacy, the celebration included a festive evening at the clubhouse, located near Griffith Park, which has served as its home for over sixty years.
The event featured “a dazzling evening of dining, dancing, and celebration” with a full buffet dinner, cash bar, photo opportunities, and a live performance by Lil’ Mo and the Dynaflos. Additionally, attendees participated in a silent auction, showcasing offerings donated by club members.
Each week, the Breakfast Club hosts a variety of speakers, drawing a diverse audience of both local and national figures. Recently, actor and director Dr. Peter Weller, known for his role in Robocop, captivated members with a discussion on his passion for Italian Renaissance art, highlighting the club’s eclectic roster of guests.
Over the decades, the organization has welcomed esteemed Angelenos who have come together to partake in its unique rituals, which include quirky traditions like reciting an oath and engaging in light-hearted antics.
Beyond its whimsical nature, the Los Angeles Breakfast Club is committed to philanthropy, with a charitable foundation that supports the arts and assists those in need. Members often display camaraderie and a willingness to help one another, creating lasting bonds that extend well beyond their weekly gatherings.
As the club reflects on its rich history, its members embrace both the laughter of the past and the promise of continued community involvement in the years to come.
