Celebrate the Hannah Montana Anniversary with Special Disney+ and Hulu Deals
"Hannah Montana" Celebrates 20th Anniversary with Streaming Success
The beloved series Hannah Montana has returned in style with a special anniversary edition that debuted on Disney+ and Hulu. The Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special garnered an impressive 6.3 million views across both platforms in just its first three days.
These viewership figures have notable implications, particularly as Disney reported a nearly 1,000% increase in viewers accessing the Hannah Montana catalog in the week following the special’s release. The milestone event celebrated two decades since Miley Cyrus first introduced her iconic character on the Disney Channel.
Filmed in front of a live studio audience, the special features an in-depth interview with Cyrus, reflecting on her time as the dual-life pop star. Hosted by Alex Cooper, known for her podcast Call Her Daddy, the event was directed by Sam Wrench, who is recognized for his work on Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour.
Created by Michael Poryes, Rich Correll, and Barry O’Brien, Hannah Montana aired for four seasons from 2006 to 2011. Produced by HopeTown Entertainment and Unwell Productions, the show had Ashley Edens as showrunner, with Cyrus, Tish Cyrus-Purcell, Cooper, and Matt Kaplan serving as executive producers.
In advance of the anniversary, Disney shared that the campaign generated nearly 440 million total impressions and over 30 million engagements across social media. Notably, a teaser for the special achieved over 120 million views within its first 24 hours. Additionally, songs from the series are seeing renewed popularity, with "This Is The Life," the first song Cyrus performed on the show, experiencing a 747% surge in streams on Spotify on March 24.
