Cal Fire Paramedic Arrested: Authorities Urge Additional Victims to Come Forward
Cal Fire Paramedic Arrested on Sexual Assault Charges; Investigators Seek Additional Victims
A Cal Fire paramedic has been arrested in connection with alleged sexual assaults. David Renteria, a 51-year-old resident of Placentia, was taken into custody on Friday following an investigation by Riverside County Sheriff’s Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force.
The inquiry began last month after at least two victims came forward with allegations against Renteria. Detectives believe there may be more victims yet to be identified.
Renteria was apprehended while authorities executed a search warrant in the 1000 block of Magnolia Avenue in Placentia. He faces several serious charges, including false imprisonment, assault with a deadly weapon, and rape by force or fear. He has been booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center.
In response to the allegations, Cal Fire confirmed that Renteria has been on administrative leave since January 4, when the department first learned of the claims. "CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire Department demands its employees uphold standards of professional conduct both on and off duty," the agency stated, emphasizing its cooperation with the ongoing investigation.
Authorities are urging anyone who believes they may have been victimized by Renteria to reach out to Investigator Joe Riddle at 951-955-1700 or the Riverside Sheriff’s Dispatch at 951-776-1099. The investigation remains ongoing.
