CAA and Ithaka Media Announce Partnership with Director Mascha Schilinski for ‘Sound of Falling’
EXCLUSIVE: CAA and Ithaka Media have announced the signing of German filmmaker Mascha Schilinski, known for her impactful sophomore film, Sound of Falling, which garnered significant attention at the Cannes Film Festival last year.
The film, a contender for Germany’s International Oscar, secured the Jury Prize at Cannes and received widespread acclaim, leading Mubi to acquire it during the festival. The distribution is set for January 16, 2026.
In addition to winning the Silver Frog at Camerimage, Sound of Falling received nominations for Best International Feature and Best Original Screenplay at the 2025 Gotham Film Awards. The film is also nominated for multiple European Film Awards, including Best European Film, Best European Director, and Best European Screenwriter.
The narrative follows four girls—Alma from the 1910s, Erika from the 1940s, Angelika from the 1980s, and Lenka from the 2020s—each spending their formative years on the same Northern German farm. As the home undergoes a century’s worth of change, the echoes of the past resonate within its walls, allowing the girls’ lives, though separated by time, to intersect and reveal long-buried secrets.
