V, a member of the globally renowned group BTS, is gracing the cover of Vogue Japan as the publication highlights “The New Standard of Cool” ahead of 2026. This announcement came just days before Christmas, marking a significant moment for the artist.
In the feature, V reflects on his close relationships with his bandmates—RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, and Jung Kook—while offering insights into his own identity. He expresses a deep affection for his fellow members, stating, “Anywhere would be fun as long as I’m with my crew.”
In lighthearted commentary, he shared, “I’d probably say, ‘I want to come back here again,’ no matter where we go,” noting humorously, “Except for going to the company for work, of course [laughs].”
On a deeper level, V admitted, “I can’t say yet that I’m a strong person,” but he expressed his aspiration to cultivate strength. “However, I want to be a strong person who will never falter, in order to live up to the expectations of the people I love,” he said. He also affirmed, “But I do feel that I am a healthy person, both mentally and physically.”
This introspective dialogue arrives at an exciting juncture for V, who recently completed his service in the South Korean military in June. He and his bandmates are slated to return in spring 2026 with a new album and world tour, their first since the critically acclaimed Be, which topped the Billboard 200 in 2020.
During BTS’s hiatus, V explored solo ventures, releasing a contemporary take on “White Christmas,” featuring his vocals alongside those of the late Bing Crosby. Additionally, he collaborated with Park Hyo Shin on “Winter Ahead.”
His EP, Layover, launched in 2023, achieving a remarkable No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart.
