K-pop sensation BTS has made a remarkable return with the release of their long-awaited comeback album, which is already making waves on streaming platforms.
On Saturday, March 21, Spotify announced that BTS’s album, ARIRANG, has set a record as the most-streamed album in a single day on the platform for 2026, in addition to becoming the most-streamed K-pop album in Spotify’s history.
“ARMY made ‘ARIRANG’ the most streamed K-Pop album in Spotify history and the most streamed album in a single day in 2026. Favorite track so far?” Spotify shared on Instagram.
Released on Friday, March 20, ARIRANG was highly anticipated, evidenced by its status as one of the most pre-saved albums in Spotify’s history, reaching over five million presaves.
To sustain this momentum, Spotify has collaborated with BTS to create immersive experiences and in-app activations, including a BTS Music Quiz, an album listening party, a private fan event in New York City, and a three-day cruise along Seoul’s Han River.
Featuring 14 tracks produced by well-known names like Diplo, Kevin Parker, Mike WiLL Made-It, and Ryan Tedder, the album showcases RM, Jin, Suga, j-hope, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook in a more mature and artistically refined light.
BTS last released a full-length album in 2020, when Be debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. The same year, the seven-member group topped the Billboard Hot 100 with hits like “Life Goes On” and “Dynamite,” later achieving No. 1 status again with “Butter,” “Permission to Dance,” and “My Universe” in collaboration with Coldplay.
As the group reached the peak of their global success, its members began mandatory military service in South Korea, leading to solo projects being released on a staggered schedule.
