BTS Expresses Desire to Remain a Team Through the Years, Even with RM’s Thoughts on Disbanding

BTS continues to capture the spotlight as they approach the release of their new album, Arirang. In a recent interview, members RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook expressed their aspirations for the band’s future, emphasizing their desire to perform together for many years to come.
In an in-depth cover story with GQ, published on February 13, the group discussed the challenges of returning to the music scene, including plans for a world tour after a lengthy hiatus for solo projects and military service. By focusing on their friendships and professional relationships while preparing for their album, set to release on March 20, they have found renewed clarity and a vision for their longevity as a group.
Suga noted, “If we can keep this going, then maybe we can be dancing in our 60s … as long as we’re willing — I think maybe into our 50s, into our 60s — we can always be together as a band. Maybe it’ll be a little bit hard on our knees. But I think we can do that.”
However, RM has acknowledged the pressure of living up to the band’s past success, especially following their last album, 2020’s Be, which topped the Billboard 200. In a December livestream, he shared that he had considered “thousands of times” whether it would be “better for the team to disband or go on hiatus” due to this stress.
Jimin remarked on RM’s openness, saying, “I think it’s RM’s love language to ARMY in a way. It really shows how emotionally invested he is in the group and in ARMY as well. I think it was very RM to be vulnerable and say things like that.”
V echoed Jimin’s sentiments, stating, “RM is like the identity of this group. He’s the core leader of the group, so he must feel so much more pressure than the rest of us do. I usually don’t have that much pressure, but it seems like he does.”
The members also recollected the emotional challenges they faced while apart during their break. V recounted a poignant moment during a gathering “before we all got discharged from the military service,” stating that Jung Kook became particularly emotional. “He bawled,” V recalled. “Jung Kook cried because he really wanted to be on stage, and he just really wanted to perform.”
Once Arirang is released, BTS will embark on their eagerly awaited world tour, starting in April with a series of performances in Goyang, South Korea. Their tour will continue through March 2027, with stops scheduled in the United States, Europe, Australia, and Asia.
In April, fans will have the opportunity to experience the performances live, with simultaneous screenings of a concert in Goyang and another in Tokyo to be shown in theaters.
BTS appears on the cover of GQ, showcasing their return to the music industry and their commitment to each other and their fans.
