Brooks Nader Becomes a Regular on Fox’s New Baywatch Series
Brooks Nader has been cast as a series regular in Fox’s upcoming sequel to Baywatch, set to premiere during the 2026-27 television season. Nader joins a notable ensemble that includes Stephen Amell, Jessica Belkin, Hassie Harrison, and Thaddeus LaGrone. David Chokachi will reprise his iconic role as Cody Madison from the original series in a recurring capacity.
In this new iteration, Hobie Buchannon, portrayed by Amell, has taken on the role of Baywatch Captain, following in the footsteps of his father, Mitch, famously played by David Hasselhoff. The storyline takes a twist when Charlie, Hobie’s daughter played by Belkin, unexpectedly appears, eager to join her father in the lifeguard profession and uphold the Buchannon legacy.
Chokachi’s character, Cody, now operates The Shoreline, a beloved bar and grill adjacent to the beach, while still donning the classic red trunks for the occasional rescue. As both mentor and friend, Cody creates a welcoming environment for his fellow lifeguards, often treating them to free wings after significant saves.
Nader will portray Selene, the no-nonsense Captain of the Zuma Beach lifeguards. Although skilled in her role, Selene’s approach to lifeguarding frequently clashes with Hobie’s methods, creating a persistent source of tension between the two. Their rivalry intensifies notably after Hobie allows his daughter Charlie to join his team.
Fox has emphasized that the reboot will showcase action-packed rescues, intricate relationships, and the poignant beachside heroics that characterized the original series while introducing contemporary challenges and updates to the classic formula.
The reboot received a 12-episode straight-to-series order from Fox in September, following its development, which began in winter 2024. Production is set to commence this spring at Venice Beach and the Fox Studio Lot in Century City.
Originally premiering in 1989, the Baywatch series faced cancellation by NBC after just one season but went on to become a global phenomenon, reaching more than a billion viewers weekly at its height. The show notably contributed to the rise of actors like Pamela Anderson, Carmen Electra, Jason Momoa, and Yasmine Bleeth.
The new Baywatch is a co-production between Fox Entertainment and Fremantle, with Matt Nix serving as showrunner and executive producer. The premiere episode will be directed by McG, with Fox Entertainment Global managing domestic distribution rights and Fremantle handling international sales.
Nader is represented by WME, Dixon Talent Inc., and Nader Sisters Inc.
